Golf carts are not “street legal”. They do not have the required bumpers that cars have, nor do they have seat belts, etc.
I’ve actually been looking into electric cars. There are really about 3 main types, the lowest end of the scale are what they call “neighborhood” cars. They max out at like 25mph and are not intended to be driven far distaces. IMHO, they are glorified golfcarts. They do cost about $8000 - I’m not sure what a golf cart costs. These would be street legal.
For 40 bucks you can steal one from course.
