Do the nicks in a golfing frisbee change it’s performance?

When I was frisbee golfing I noticed that the frisbee i bought worked real well until I hit a couple of trees with it. Does a nicked up frisbee not work as well or is it just that I was not throwing it as good as before?

      a nicked frisbee does not have the same aerodynamics as a new one
