Can golf carts run on car batteries?

Can golf carts use car batteries if they are 12v and how many do you REALLY have to have to work?
I have never worked on a golf cart, but I got one with NO batteries supplied so please give all info you can if you don’t mind.

I wouldn’t recommend it. Conventional car batteries are constantly being charged and are just used to start a car. If you want to run down a battery without damaging it you’re best off looking for 12volt “deep cycle” batteries which are designed to be drained and charged repeatedly.

NO. They use DEEP discharge 12v battery. Car batteries become damaged if they are deeply discharged.
Marine batteries (boat batteries) are often DEEP discharge battery.
Good Luck…

The better than 12 volt system 6volt batteries are better so on for best results you want deep cycle batteries are better than 12 volt system.
The brake on for best results you want deep cycle batteries and go with the brake on 36 volt if you try and the better.
